This award recognizes a significant
contribution to the growth and development of the
association through service as a committee member,
chairperson, state officer, or coordinator of a major
PADE activity. Nominees must meet the following
criteria:
-
Member
of PADE for at least five consecutive years; and
-
Service as member of the board for at lest one full
term; and
-
Chair
a major committee (conference, political action,
membership) or coordinate a major activity such as
regional conferences or fundraising events; and/or
-
Effective service as an executive officer for at
least one full term.

This award recognizes a developmental
program which exemplifies the best of current practice
in the field of developmental education.
REQUIREMENTS:

Nomination letter summarizing
strengths and achievements of the developmental
program (limit two pages)

Description of the program,
including mission statement, quantitative data,
delivery systems, and highlighting unique features,
components, etc. (limit seven pages)
-
Additional materials (at least
three, but no more than six) may include the
following:

Letters of support from students (limit one
page per letter)
-
Letters of support from a campus
administrator and/or other members of the college
community (limit one page per letter)
-
Copies of program brochures,
flyers, and other publicity materials.
-
Copies of regional/national
program recognition awards.


This award
honors a former participant in a developmental who is a
leader in her/his profession and/or has a record of
outstanding contribution of her/his community.
Nominees must meet the following criteria:
-
Have
been graduated or transferred from the institution
sponsoring the home developmental program.
-
Nomination must be made at least ten years after
graduation date.
-
Evidence of leadership in the profession, such as
elected office in professional organization,
outstanding performance awards, community
recognition for volunteer service, consistent
contribution to a service organization.

A letter of endorsement from a
developmental education practitioner. This letter must
be from a developmental educator (director, counselor,
teacher, etc.) who can attest to the nominee's
completion of developmental coursework in the
program and must include specific information about
the developmental education courses which the
nominee completed.

Resume
or professional summary of the nominee
-
Additional materials (maximum three) that provide
evidence of meeting the criteria stated above, e.g.
copies of awards, newspaper clippings, supporting
letter from employer.
This award recognizes the individual
or individuals who have authored a published article,
book, periodical, or monograph in the field of
developmental education. (Dissertations are not
considered for this award.

This award
recognizes a developmental educator whose work reflects
commitment to the needs of developmental students that
exemplifies best practices in developmental education.
Nominees must meet the following criteria.
-
Must
be currently working in a developmental program or a
related service; and
-
Have
worked in developmental education or a related
service area for at least five years; and
-
Be
responsible for an innovation in the filed,
coordination of a program that has significant
impact on students, or leading advocacy efforts on
behalf of developmental students.

This award
recognizes a college administrator and/or public servant
who has a track record of support for developmental
education. Nominees must meet the following
criteria:
Hold an administrative or
public position which has influence over developmental
education.
Has provided consistent
support for developmental education in a tangible
significant manner, e.g. secure funding, sponsor
legislations, expand level of support, public advocacy
for developmental students outside own institution.

This award is designed to honor an
educator who has demonstrated a track record of
effective teaching with developmental education
students. Nominees must meet the following criteria:
-
Have a
minimum of three years of teaching developmental
education courses/students, and
-
Provide evidence of successful teaching, such as
student or peer classroom evaluations
(Note:
Although counseling/advising and professional tutoring
are also teaching endeavors in a broad sense, this award
is not designed to honor exemplary work in those
responsibilities. The "Outstanding Service to
Developmental Education Students" award is an
appropriate avenue for recognizing exemplary service in
these areas.)

characterizes the nominee's teaching and shows the
relationship between the nominees' teaching
philosophy and his/her performance.

official report of formal teaching evaluations by
students, colleagues, or supervisors; letters of
support, assessment data that documents evidence of
