This award recognizes a significant
contribution to the growth and development of the
association through service as a committee member,
chairperson, state officer, or coordinator of a major
PADE activity.
REQUIREMENTS:

- Letter of endorsement from a
current or former PADE officer (limit one page)
- Resume of the nominee
- Supporting information must include
pertinent materials such as the following:

This award recognizes a developmental
program which exemplifies the best of current practice
in the field of developmental education.

This award honors a person who
participated in a developmental program and then became
an outstanding member of a profession and/or a
contributing member to his or her community, thereby
exemplifying the effectiveness of developmental
education.

developmental education practitioner. This letter must
be from a developmental educator who taught the
nominee and must include specific information about
the developmental education courses which the nominee
completed.

nominee's activities and contributions to a
profession and/or community

Two letters from community
organizations regarding the nominee's contributions
(limit one page per letter)

This award recognizes the individual
or individuals who have authored a published article,
book, periodical, or monograph in the field of
developmental education. (Dissertations are not
considered for this award.

This award recognizes a developmental
educator whose work on behalf of developmental students
exemplifies the developmental education philosophy.

This award recognizes a college
administrator and/or public servant who has demonstrated
support of the philosophy of developmental education and
of developmental education programs.

director/ instructor in a developmental education
program, developmental education student, community
leader - limit two pages per letter)


This award is designed to honor an
educator who has demonstrated a track record of
effective teaching with developmental education
students. Within the context of the criteria and the
required submission materials, nominees are expected to
demonstrate to the Awards Committee how their teaching
is exemplary. General criteria:
(1) nominee must have a minimum
of three years of successful teaching of developmental
education courses/students at the post-secondary
level;
(2) "teaching" is defined as formal
classroom-based instruction, whether the course be
credit or non-credit;
(3) nominee must be
current PADE member.
(Note:
Although counseling/advising and professional tutoring
are also teaching endeavors in a broad sense, this award
is not designed to honor exemplary work in those
responsibilities. The "Outstanding Service to
Developmental Education Students" award is an
appropriate avenue for recognizing exemplary service in
these areas.)

nomination which characterizes the nominee's teaching
and which shows the relationship between the nominee's
teaching philosophy and his/her actual teaching

An official summary of formal
teaching evaluationgs by student, and if available, by
colleagues, and/or supervisors

Two letters of support written by
developmental educators familiar with the nominee's
teaching
- Other support documentation as the
candidate deems relevant. (Other support documentation
is limited to five pages, and may include, for
example, letters from students and/or the success
rates of students in follow-up or concurrent courses
for which the instruction is appropriate.)
