“Procrastination: Causes, Consequences and Cures”
.Workshop participants will:
· examine the reasons why they procrastinate (there are
at least six models) and assess their own distinct procrastination styles
· consider the consequences of procrastination
· experience and practice some strategies that will help
cure the procrastination habit.
.Participants will be able to use workshop information
in their personal and professional lives, including work with developmental
students in counseling sessions, workshops, and the classroom.
.Workshop materials will be drawn from the work of
Linda Sapadin, Piers Steel, Anna Meneghetti, and others.
.The presenter:
Janet James is the assistant dean of academic advising, career development,
and educational enrichment and the coordinator of services for students with disabilities
at Chatham University in Pittsburgh. She
has been a developmental educator for over thirty years, as a teaching faculty
member, academic counselor, and administrator.
She holds a B.A. and an M.A. in English from Chatham University and is a
graduate of the Kellogg Institute. She
is also a skilled procrastinator!!
